I remember my father's handkerchiefs (big white squares folded 4 times in his pocket), or my mother's (small fine white embroidered ones -white on white-), or mine when I was a child (printing images on handkerchiefs became the norm and mine were printed with horses heads, or edelweisses, or cows bells). Now, we only use disposable ones. Of course, it saves time -which is a good thing-, but (as always with progress), we also lose out on something else (our children won't remember fondly their paper 'handkies').
